llms.txt is a proposal for a plain-text file that gives AI tools a quick guide to your site. No major AI company has confirmed that it reads these files yet, so treat it as a small extra, not a fix. Promptopus never counts its absence against you.
What to put in it
A short Markdown file at yourdomain/llms.txt:
# Your Business
> Hand-poured soy candles from Yorkshire, sold online and in our Leeds shop.
## Key pages
- [Shop all candles](https://yourbusiness.co.uk/collections/all): every scent and size
- [Delivery and returns](https://yourbusiness.co.uk/policies/shipping): UK delivery from £3.95
- [About us](https://yourbusiness.co.uk/pages/about): who we are
Keep it up to date when your key pages change.
For your developer
Serve a Markdown file at /llms.txt (text/plain or text/markdown) following the llms.txt proposal: an H1 name, a blockquote summary, then sections of links to key pages with one-line descriptions.
General guidance only. Take a backup before making changes, and test on a staging copy where you can. Nobody can guarantee what AI tools recommend.
