AI assistants increasingly answer “what should I buy?” with specific products. To include yours, they need to know what it is, what it costs and whether it’s in stock. Product structured data states all of that plainly, so they don’t have to guess from the page.
1. Check your theme or plugin
- Shopify: most recent themes include product structured data in the product template. If yours doesn’t, your developer can add it using Shopify’s
structured_datafilter, or a schema app can. - WooCommerce: WooCommerce adds basic product data itself, and SEO plugins such as Yoast SEO or Rank Math extend it. Check it isn’t switched off.
- Other platforms: look for a “rich snippets”, “SEO” or “structured data” setting for products.
2. Make sure it includes the essentials
Each product should have a name, image, price, currency and stock status, plus a description, brand, SKU and a barcode (GTIN, such as an EAN) where you have one.
3. Test a product page
Paste a product address into Google’s Rich Results Test. It should find a product with no errors. Then run Promptopus again.
For your developer
Output Product (or ProductGroup with hasVariant) JSON-LD on product templates with name, image, description, brand, sku, gtin/mpn and offers (price, priceCurrency, availability, url). Shopify: {{ product | structured_data }} in the main product section, or a JSON-LD snippet. Keep values server-rendered and in sync with the page.
General guidance only. Take a backup before making changes, and test on a staging copy where you can. Nobody can guarantee what AI tools recommend.
