Structured data is a short, labelled summary of your business, written in a format called JSON-LD that sits invisibly in your page. Search engines and AI tools read it to confirm your name, logo, contact details and social profiles without guessing.
1. Use your platform’s tools first
- WordPress: Yoast SEO, Rank Math and similar plugins add Organization data. Fill in your business name, logo and social profiles in the plugin’s settings.
- Shopify: many themes add some structured data. If yours doesn’t include your business details, an SEO or schema app can, or your developer can add it to the theme.
- Wix, Squarespace and others: complete your business details in the site settings, which feed their built-in structured data.
2. Or add it yourself
Here’s a starting point to adapt. Replace every value with your own:
<script type="application/ld+json">
{
"@context": "https://schema.org",
"@type": "Organization",
"name": "Your Business",
"url": "https://yourbusiness.co.uk",
"logo": "https://yourbusiness.co.uk/logo.png",
"email": "hello@yourbusiness.co.uk",
"telephone": "+44 20 0000 0000",
"sameAs": ["https://www.linkedin.com/company/yourbusiness", "https://www.instagram.com/yourbusiness"]
}
</script>
If you have premises customers visit, use a LocalBusiness type (such as Store or Restaurant) and add your address and opening hours.
3. Test it
Paste your homepage address into Google’s Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator. Fix any errors, then run Promptopus again.
For your developer
Add a JSON-LD block of @type Organization (or the closest LocalBusiness subtype) with name, url, logo, sameAs, contactPoint/telephone/email and address. One block per site, usually on the homepage. Validate with the Rich Results Test and validator.schema.org.
General guidance only. Take a backup before making changes, and test on a staging copy where you can. Nobody can guarantee what AI tools recommend.
